This lecture will address how the political economy of the contemporary art market shapes, and differentially impacts, the making of Latinx and Latin American art. In particular, Dávila focuses on the trials of contemporary Latinx women artists as they maneuver through the growing contradictions presented by the globalization and growing popularity of Latinx and Latin American art, and the vagueness between these categories on which their profitability is often based.
