FILIPPO CIABATTI conductor

The Hop’s resident orchestra pairs Beethoven with two French impressionists. With Jessica Tong ’17 playing the part Beethoven wrote for his own prodigious piano skills, the concerto abounds in charm and good humor, as well as eloquent slow passages. The three-movement Debussy evokes the ocean while Ravel’s sultry Spanish dance—his most famous composition—slowly builds to a thundering finish.

Ravel  Bolero

The Hop’s resident orchestra features student and community instrumentalists from all walks of life, performing major symphonic works. Sophisticated repertoire, high musical standards and outstanding soloists contribute to the DSO’s regional reputation for excellence.
