Objectives – Participants will be able to:

  1. Gain an understanding of the term multiple drug intolerance
  2. Develop a systematic approach to evaluating patients with multiple antibiotic allergies
  3. Develop a rational approach to graded dose challenges and induction of drug tolerance procedures

 

Dr. David A. Khan is a Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.  He is the Program Director for the Allergy & Immunology fellowship program at Southwestern.  Dr. Khan is a Past-President of the Texas Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Society.  He is also a member of the Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters for Allergy & Immunology.

Dr. Khan received his medical degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago.  After completing an Internal Medicine residency at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona he went on to fellowship training in Allergy & Immunology at the Mayo Clinic.  His research interests include, drug allergy, rush immunotherapy, mood disorders in asthma and alternative therapies for refractory chronic urticaria.
